    　　Scholastic ELT Readers Series電影讀本系列，特別挑選可以讓青少年讀者或是英語學習者引發興趣的題材，內容涵蓋了當代著名的電影、電視、經典文學以及青少年小說等。此書共分4個級數：

    Starter level：適合具備300字彙以上讀者閱讀；
    　　Level 1：適合具備600字彙以上讀者閱讀；
    　　Level 2：適合具備1000字彙以上讀者閱讀；
    　　Level 3：適合具備1500字彙以上讀者閱讀。
    　　Level 4：適合具備2000字彙以上讀者閱讀。

    每一本書都是文字內容+朗讀CD，書內亦有節錄劇照，學習效果加倍。書末還有2個特別單元：

    　　” Fact File ”─針對書籍內容探討相關的話題， 豐富有趣的讓人愛不釋手。
    　　” Self-study Activities ” ─以閱讀後的小測驗讓讀者學習英文更有系統與方法 。

    　　16歲的孤兒安迪和弟弟布魯斯終於找到了一戶願意收養他們的人家，可「不得飼養寵物」這條新家規卻讓姐弟倆犯難，因為與他們相依為命的還有一隻狗：「星期五」，所以安迪不得不運用她的小智慧來給「星期五」尋找一個新家。

    　　很快，安迪和布魯斯就發現了一個完美的場所--一所被廢棄的旅館。這所旅館雖然破舊，但是內部設施一應俱全，而且布局很適合狗狗居住。安迪、布魯斯與朋友們開始運用他們的聰明才智改建這所旅館，還發明創造出一係列可愛、方便又實用的自動裝置來幫助狗狗們自給自足。很快，這所旅館就成了不止「星期五」的新家，也成了越來越多無家可歸的流浪狗狗的甜蜜小窩，而且最最重要的是，它讓身為孤兒的安迪和布魯斯有生以來第一次體驗到了「家」的溫馨與可貴。然而隨著旅館裏狗狗的數量越來越多，這所「流浪狗旅館」也引起了警察的懷疑，他們逐漸查到了這個地方。孩子們為了保護狗狗打算將其轉移，可是這麼多狗狗如何順利轉移出去呢？一場鬥智鬥勇大戰就要開始了…

    　　Extensive reading improves fluency and there is a real need in the ELT classroom for contemporary, motivating material that will instantly appeal to students. Hotel for Dogs is based on the 2008 movie of the same name which tells the story of a brother and sister who transform an abandoned building into a ”hotel” for stray dogs.

    作者簡介

    　　Guy Deutscher is the author of The Unfolding of Language. Formerly a fellow of St. John’s College, Cambridge, and of the Department of Ancient Near Eastern Languages at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, he is an honorary research fellow at the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures at the University of Manchester. He lives in Oxford, England.
