內容簡介


The hypothesis is that the spread of early agricultural populations could have been responsible as well for spreading the foundations of language families. Contributors from anthropology and archaeology, linguistics, and such biological sciences as genetics and evolution continue the heated debate about it that has raged since the middle 1980s. They set out the fundamentals of the hypothesis; look at the basic conditions and processes of dispersal; and survey findings from western Asia and North Africa, Asia and Oceania, Mesoamerica and the US southwest, and Europe.
